unheimlich traurig und erschüttert lese ich Deinen aktuellen Eintrag in der Homepage, aber auch natürlich froh, daß Du überlebt hast. Vor kurzem hatten wir NDR eingeschaltet, ich glaube es war Samstag vor Pfingsten, in der Regionalsendung "DAS" kam am Ende die Nachricht, daß "ein selbstgebautes Flugzeug vor dem ersten Flug von einer Boe erfasst und tatal zerstört wurde. Dem Piloten sei nichts passiert". Ich hatte immer gehofft, daß es nicht Dein Flugzeug ist. Nun ist ist es aber leider Realität! Wirklich schade! Aber Du lebst!!! Wenn es Dich tröstet, kann ich Dir aus eigener Erfahrung sagen was das bedeutet. Am 29.07.2003 flog ich in Südfrankreich mit einem Discus CS in 2000 m MSL. Nach einem Flächenbruch mußte ich mit dem Rettungsschirm abspringen. Flugzeug natürlich Totalschaden aber ich habe überlebt. Ich blieb der Fliegerei treu. Fliege heute mehr denn je. Ich wünsche Dir, daß es auch Dir gelingt wieder in ein Flugzeug zu steigen.

NEIN! Mensch, das kann nicht wahr sein - mir fehlen die Worte. Seit Monaten beobachte ich mit großem Interesse Dein Projekt, schaue immer neugierig alle Fortschritte an, und fiebere mit Dir diesem einen Tag entgegen. Und jetzt das... Du hast wirklich mein großes Mitgefühl und Du hast Recht, es ist eine Schande. Meine absolute Hochachtung, was Du an Zeit, Geld und auch Energie in dieses Projekt gesteckt hast. Läßt sich die Kleine denn wieder herrichten ? Es wäre doch schade , wäre all die Arbeit letztendlich umsonst gewesen...!

Thanks for the great site and your great looking airplane. Sadly our buerocratic British system does not allow to build PIK-26 without money/time consuming LAA approval procedure...

Thank you Wolfgang for the great website. Great work, and even more impressive is your tenacity and perseverance. You obviously stay very focused on your goals and that is very inspirational. I have always loved small, efficient, single seat aircraft, and came across the PIK 26 by chance on the web one day. I've been obsessed with your build progress ever since, and really like this design. I'm debating between the PIK 26 and the Corby Starlet. The PIK seems easier and much less expensive to build, while burning half the fuel for only 25 mph slower cruise. The Corby has the advantage in builder support and number of aircraft flown and proven. So many comparisons... I will decide soon and not look back! Maybe I'll be the first to fly one in the U.S.! Keep the faith, friend.

Respekt und Bewunderung für den Bau und die Dokumentation des Projektes. Wenn man bedenkt, daß ja auch noch Zeit für Familie und das Hobby Fliegen bleiben muß. Ich werde den weiteren Verlauf aufmerksam verfolgen und freue mich mit Dir auf die Fertigstellung vieleicht im kommenden Jahr! Ich bin selbst auf der Suche nach einem geigneten Homebuilt. Habe div. Lizenzen, sodaß ich relativ frei bei der Auswahl des Projektes bin. Kann ich Dich mal gezielt über die Pik 26 befragen? Frohe Weihnachten und ein gutes neues Jahr!

It is a pleasure to follow Your progress in building Your PIK 26.
I have seen PIK 26 flying two times. Year 2006 in Jämi Fly-In I saw the pilot preparing for a flight. His assistance laid a towell down to the ground near the cockpit. The pilot took of his shoes, stepped to the towell, put the shoes in to the luggage room of PIK.. and climbed to the cabin. I guess the plane needs very soft "foot" when manouvering, because the pilot flies without shoes ;). See You!

Great website. Wonderfully put together. Very slick, easy to use, great pics, etc. I've been intetrested in homebuiilt airplanes for many years but have not started one yet. I go up to Osh-Kosh each year for the Fly-In--only 275 miles or so--and wonder if I will ever start a plane. Maybe I'll build the Pik 26. It looks like alot of fun and hopefully not beyond my abilities. Thanks for your great site!

I have been following this design ever since I saw some pictures of the prototype. Your log is quite informative and detailed. I live in southern New Mexico. Unfortunately, the density altitude and my weight, (even though I have lost lots), would probably keep the plane grounded if I built one. It is nice to see someone making so much progress in a relatively short time.

I was wondering...Is it possible to use an alternate Engine such as a Volkswagen Beetle engine?
Because those are so much easier to obtain, I would think it would be a much, much cheaper alternative.

Great work Wolfgang. I would love to build in wood, but I just do not have the time.Three of us are planning on building three sytky together. Aluminium wing and fibreglass fuelage. Hummel 45HP motor. Like an old axe with a new head and a new handle, so we are calling the 'plane a sytky, and not a PIK-26. My designer is taking so long that I am getting on with other things for now, but we are encouraged every now and then by looking at your site. We are getting closer. zunächst einmal meinen herzlichsten Glückwunsch zu Deinem Baufortschritt. Das geht ja nun wirklich superschnell bei Dir - Kompliment für Dich (..und für Deine Frau, die Dir offensichtlich den Freiraum dafür lässt..).

Wie bereits früher erwähnt, plane ich auch den Bau des PIK (ich weiss nur noch nicht genau wann).

Jetzt bist Du an einem Baupunkt angekommen, wo es immer wichtiger wird, die entsprechenden Metallteile herzustellen. Hey, wie wäre es denn, wenn wir beide uns da zusammentun, den ich hab bei mir in der WErkstatt alles da, was für die Herstellung Deiner Teile notwendig ist! Wir könnten dann gleich einen zweiten Satz anfertigen und das würde mich dann auch motivieren, das Projekt im Auge zu behalten und endlich umzusetzen.

Über eine Nachricht von Dir würde ich mich sehr freuen!

Dein Speed ist Rekordverdächtig. Wir haben unser Projekt beendet und darum weiß ich wieviel Arbeit in so einem Flieger steckt und was Du da gerade leistest.

ich muß schon sagen, bei der baugeschwindigkeit kann man wohl von dauerhaft raketenstartgleicher beschleunigung ausgehen aber in wirklichkeit ist bestimmt das A-Team am werk, so besessen wird doch nur gebaut man den planeten schnell verlassen will, aber ob der visa dafür reicht ;)

tolle Seite!
Bin durch Zufall drauf gestossen, ich habe noch nie was von der PIK-26 gehört, dabei meinte ich mich ganz gut auszukennen...live and learn :-)
Früher wollte ich mal eine Corby Starlet bauen, quasi das australische Gegenstück dazu.
Weil ich aber zu wenig Zeit habe, bin ich schliesslich bei einem Bausatz gelandet (Zenith CH601HDS). Das kann man übrigens auch im Netz lesen unter /schamlose Eigenwerbung AN/ www.petersprojekt42.de /schamlose Eigenwerbung OFF/.
Ich habe bereits bei der letzten AERO auf dem OUV-Stand angeregt, eine Linkliste von Internetseiten der Mitglieder anzulegen. ..ist aber leider nix passiert. So findet man halt sporadisch die Seiten der Vereinskameraden. Viel Spass beim bauen!! und wie unsere EAA Freunde sagen: "do something for your project every day!"

For some times I have been seriously thinking about building my own plane. About two years ago I found first informations about PIK-26 and became relly impressed with those planes. I moderate a discussion about PIK-26 at the www.laazatec.info - in my country popular webpages about ultralight planes, unfortunately available in Czech only. I added a link to Your personal web ( and, maybe, helped to increase a bit the number of visits ... )
But, before I start works at my own PIK, I would like to find some more experienced builder able to help me and answer some questions. I am really happy You decided to publish all Your experience and create so a nice web !!!

ich wollte mich mal wieder bei Dir melden, weil es bei mir über die Feiertage wegen der ganzen Auto- und Motorrad-Schrauberei doch zeitlich wieder etwas eng war. Ich trage nahezu täglich zu Deiner tollen Besucherstatistik bei und finde Deine Webseite richtig klasse!

Nun aber zum eigentlichen Grund meiner mail:
Ich sehe, dass Du jetzt mit den Metallteilen begonnen hast. Da möchte ich Dir meine Unterstützung anbieten. Wie bereits erwähnt kann ich nicht Laser-Schneiden, aber wir haben so ziemlich alles bei uns in der Werkstatt (von der Kantbank %26 Schlagschere über die Standbohrmaschiene bis hin (und das ist sicher das Entscheidende bei mechanischer Herstellung der Teile)zum Druckluftebtriebenen Schnelläufer und allen notwendigen Fräs-, Schleif- und Poliervorsätzen. Das sollte Dir wirklich helfen - Du bekommst einfach ein besseres Ergebnis in einem Bruchteil der Zeit und die notwendigen Schweissarbeiten sind auch kein Problem! Dann können wir uns einfach mal kennenlernen und vielleicht kannst Du mir ja dann auf CD den "Großen PIK-Film" mitbringen.
